Montblanc Launches 1858 Collection Under The Stars of Mexico City

On October 20th 2015, for one night only, #montblanc transformed Casa del Lago, Chapultepec the historical center of Mexico City into a world reminiscent of the style, glamour and innovation of the 1930s. Under the stars, VIP guests including Mexican Actress Ana de la Reguera, Kate del Castillo, Olivier Montserrat and international blogger Adam Gallagher joined the Maison for an unforgettable evening as they discovered the new contemporary timepieces from #montblanc 1858. With vintage lines and historical design features, the new collection is inspired by the chronometer watches created throughout the prestigious Minerva manufacture’s 157-year history. The first series in the #montblanc 1858 collection reinterprets the chronograph launched by the Minerva manufacture in the 1930s.

To draw the guests closer to the spirit of innovation that defined the 1930s, the original design of the cocktail hour evoked the world of aviation during that era. The center of the main room featured a landing strip were the timepieces were showcased, while ancient books, historic motifs of the thirties, pilot artifacts, compasses, maps and aircrafts parts filled the cocktail area, evoking the vintage style of the timepieces.

Montblanc’s craftsmanship was introduced to the guests, giving them an exclusive look at the finest watchmaking savoir-faire that defines the new collection, with a live demonstration by artisans of the finishing of the watch movement. #montblanc extended the atmosphere of the 1930s during the cocktail hour, with a calligrapher personalizing historic postcards with special Messages.

Following the cocktail reception and exhibition, guests entered a magnificent dining room for a dinner by moonlight. Hundreds of historic lanterns hanging from the ceiling illuminated two grand tables set on the terrace overlooking the moonlit lake, with a spectacular view of the city where historical heritage and contemporary architecture come together.

As the evening came to a close, guests enjoyed a nighttime stroll under the stars in the empty Chapultepec Garden.
