Lema at Salone del Mobile

Cosiness and conviviality, relax and warmth: these are the words that best characterise the delicate creative universe of #lema.

A brand that has always stood out for the light and décontracté approach. The colours, the materials and above all their combinations give life to refined furniture, where the elegance of shapes meets sought-for upholsteries: modern interpretations of the Mediterranean lifestyle, essence of made in Italy.

First Italian company to propose custom-made modular systems for the day and night area thanks to a strong technical know-how, Lema was able to renew itself and evolve in over 40 years of history, building a complete product range for the home, characterised by inborn elegance that, in addition to systems, includes chairs, padded furniture, tables, wall units, beds and furnishing accessories. In fact, since a few years, the brand is proposing a sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle: this is Lema home, a place where #design enters in tip toes, embracing a lifestyle away from clamour and pretentiousness; refuge, free of restrictions, characterised by a lived atmosphere that favours tranquillity and sharing of emotions. A precise choice of taste that #lema has been pursuing since the beginning, thanks to its ability to merge handicraft knowledge with cutting-edge industrial technologies. Transforming manual skills in highly mechanized processes allowed the brand to offer an always unique, adaptable and custom-made product, with the benefits of modern mass production, preserving the care for details that is obtained only with human work. The products that rendered #lema leader in the custom-made sphere are based indeed on this philosophy: from Selecta system to the Made-to-measure Closet and walk-in closets.

Lema’s home at the Furniture Exhibition 2016 reconfirms the unusual discretion of its language through the graceful #design and sought-for finishes of the new products. A delicate creative lexicon, rich of intense simplicity in its finest meaning, with clever references to the #design culture and unusual unexpected twists given by splitting elements, only apparently discontinuous in style, that exalt the character. New evergreens, each one defined by a specific style but all linked by a common suggestion that draws inspiration from an original interpretation of the typical stylistic features of the ‘50s and ‘60s, with a totally modern look.

Furniture and furnishing accessories signed by renowned names of international #design in addition to creations of emerging artists, to underscore the company' ability, unique in the furnishing world, to convey different #design approaches in an articulated but always consistent collection. Not only the single pieces are impacting, but also their combination, offering new aesthetic ideas for homes that do not fear the thrill to reveal their most intimate character. At the base, the constant research that approaches living trends, advancing and exceeding customers’ expectations with collections that charm for their personal character, always pertinent with the brand's quintessence. Also this year, the typical and delicate approach to Lema’s #design and decoration is found in the elegant fabrics, corduroys with pleasant textures at the touch and soft leather, all proposed in a refined colour palette: grey and beige shades meet the intensity of blue and green and the energy of garnet red. The woods are solid, with grains that exalt the natural character like the thermo-treated oak, contrasting the brightness of the new grey oak. Bronzed finishes of lived effect characterise the metals: particular painting processes fix the colour in depth, conferring a particular roundness to the pieces, warm and elegant style details, without ever parting from Lema’s formal neatness.

THE NOVELTIES FOR THE DAY AREA AND PADDED FURNITURE

Among the novelties, the essential style of Piero Lissoni, art director of the brand, who conceived LUCE. Starting from the classic iconography of the table, Lissoni worked on the exasperation of its features by subtraction: top in Canaletto Walnut and structure in bronzed die-cast aluminium merge with the intense lightness of the #design given by the essential volumes and thicknesses. A new table, available in different sizes, all fixed and square, of modern, almost technological style, thought to furnish refined home environments and also sophisticated contract spaces.

The collaboration with Christophe Pillet is also renewed, who signs three new products characterised by the elegant vintage spirit: Steward storage unit, Graceland table and Lady Jane bergère.

STEWARD is an elegant, double front-sided storage unit in wood, featuring refined details in lacquered HPL (6 mm thickness) and base in painted metal that combines the charm of a handicraft piece with a modern, typically industrial #design approach. An essential cube in thermo-treated wood, characterised by a vague retrò style, with hinged doors that hide the spacious compartments and sliding drawers useful for the living area, also ideal as bar cabinet.

Various styles with vintage touches also for GRACELAND, round table that plays on neat and rational shapes, characterised by the metal structure of strong personality, matched to the top proposed in Milan, in the elegant shiny lacquered finish.

Always characterised by a mix of styles, today a winning approach to further express the most elegant modern character, the neat lines that recall the shapes of the ‘50s of the elegant and cosy LADY JANE. A timeless, poetic and at the same time rigorous bergère characterised by a multi-faceted soul, for the home and also for the office.

A bold fluidity defines EYDO asymmetric dormeuse by Francesco Rota, already author of numerous proposals for #lema. Distinguished by an architectural style, it invites to relax as inferred from the name of Greek origin. It consists of a suspended structure in painted bronze and the unique seat and backrest volume that, despite recalling the lightness of a wing thanks to its reduced thickness, it envelopes and welcomes the body, offering great comfort. The stitching and leather upholstery embellish the #design.

Synthesis of a contemporary thought of vintage spirit, the new BEA dining armchair by Roberto Lazzeroni that stands out for its neat and refined soul. A perfect item also for the contract sector, that creates an ideal set of passé-partout chairs with Bice lounge chair designed in 2015, of which it revisits the measured proportions and enveloping shapes of the shell backrest. With fabric or leather upholstery, it stands out for the light structure in bronze metal.

Also reconfirmed the collaboration with Matteo Nunziati who, after designing Marble Arch wall unit in 2013, signs this year Glance display case and Kaiwa sofa. Of sculptural character, GLANCE is a refined synthesis between the strength of thermo-treated oak and the lightness of crystal, gently joined by bronze aluminium that defines the perimeter.

Conversional moments have instead inspired the Milanese designer in defining KAIWA (meaning dialoguing in Japanese), a two-seat fixed sofa, with a light suspended base in painted metal of bronze colour that supports the padded seat and backrest. A proposal able to fit in elegant home contexts, but thought in particular to furnish lounge areas or refined contract spaces.

Unprecedented also LENNOX padded foot-rest pouf with light structure in bronze metal by Gordon Guillaumier designed to match the homonymous lounge-chair presented last year, to furnish a private corner where to enjoy reading and listening to fine music. A detail that also inspired the name.

DAY SYSTEMS – SELECTA AND T030

Lema has always been the ideal partner through which home customisation reaches its peak. The company’s DNA is bound to the production of made-to-measure systems for the day and night area, in fact #lema was the first Italian company to develop a freestanding panel system that during the years has evolved in the current Selecta.

Bookcase par #excellence, Selecta was the first product to combine the details of manual work on wood to a series of technical innovations that currently made it one of the most versatile in terms of compositions, finishes and uses, similar to an actual ad hoc product for each home, that fully exploits the modern character of mechanised corporate processes. A program in constant evolution that is renewed at the 2016 Furniture Exhibition with the new screen door and grids of reduced thicknesses to expand the storage units, creating pleasant graphic patterns that match the existing structures. Another novelty is the Grey Oak finish.

In addition to Selecta, T030, another crowning achievement of the brand, the box system by Piero Lissoni, highly versatile with regards to compositions, finishes and colours. In addition to offer utmost #design freedom thanks to the countless possible variants, with refined matter combinations of the closed compositions, Box offers the originality and value of a small limited series. Studied to facilitate the #design and logistic phase, simple installation and reduce costs, Box wall units stand out for the versatile elegance with empty and solid patterns, thanks to the different doors that create closed compartments and day spaces to use freely.

The product aesthetics is embellished by the solid character of the facades on Clay finish.

THE NOVELTIES FOR THE NIGHT AREA

The scenographic JOBU bed is signed by Piero Lissoni. A decorative proposal despite retaining the essential character typical of the designer' style, around which an environment of sophisticated elegance can be built. An essential sommier with contrast rat-tail profiles is embellished by the extra large #design of the headrest, inspired by the timeless charm of the screen. Proposed in Milan in an elegant version in blue velvet and frame in thermo-treated oak, it is also available with fabric or leather upholstery, always matching the sommier.

Designed by Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri, TIP collection consisting of drawer unit, dresser and night table, the latter in two versions. A proposal characterised by a modern and essential language built around a sequence of solid and empty volumes marked by the mix between the thermo-treated oak of the structure and front sides of the drawers available in shiny and matt lacquered finish, in addition to the sophisticated Clay finish, soft and silky to the touch and sight.

Walk-in closets

The bedroom signed #lema is thought as place of wellness and emotions. A custom-space where furniture, furnishing accessories and systems – since always the brand’s core business – like the Walk-in closets, define the sophisticated character.

Novenove by Officinadesign #lema and Hangar designed by Piero Lissoni – that this year proposes the new finish in melamine Grey larch-wood, embellished by details in anodised aluminium in clear steel colour- aim at conceiving a personal area, a safe refuge that moves its hub from mere storage function, thus becoming an actual room to live, also thanks to the presence of seats and furnishing accessories that embellish the aesthetics. For #lema, the walk-in closet does not represent luxury in the strictest sense of the term, but the expression of a state of mind and way to intend life and its spaces.

A closet, endless closets

Modularity and customisation have always represented Lema’s stylistic feature. The industrialisation of production processes combined to utmost care for details, made it possible to significantly develop systems, therefore to conceive a program that allows the greatest versatility in the closet sector like the Made-to-measure Wardrobe, the modular system that offers utmost building freedom thanks to the large range of modules available and possibility to adapt them according to the required sizes, in terms of height, width and depth. The technical aspect of the system is available in numerous aesthetic variants according to the applied door: this way, #lema closet can be transformed in endless closets, each with its style and elegance, with each door creating a closet.

Among the 2016 proposals, the new DANDY closet by Officinadesign Lema defined by the various souls of the door characterised by the perimetric frame in bronze metal and large assortment of panels: clear glass, screen-printed with a delicate smooth-brushed decor, or upholstered with fabric, leather or wallpaper. Unprecedented also KIRI hinged closet by Giancarlo Vegni- cut in Japanese – defined by aluminium profiles matched to panels in wood or lacquered finish. The constant attention to details typical of #lema led to #design the new shelves with metal frame and solid surface, in addition to fully review the hardware to ensure improved aesthetic effects.
