Montegrappa’ s hemingway pens herald the new fisherman edition

Among the #limitededition collections produced by #montegrappa is a brand-new series named Mightier Than the Sword, joining the Cult and Icon ones in honouring individuals of great cultural impact and influence. Prominent among the subjects of the new series will be writers, politicians, national heroes and other notables. It is therefore appropriate that the Hemingway pens form the first family in this new series. Ernest Hemingway was one of the most innovative and influential writers, reporters and novelists of the 20th century, one who wrote, coincidentally, with #montegrappa pens.

The Hemingway Pens

The collection is divided into four chapter editions: "The Soldier", "The Writer", "The Fisherman" and "The Traveller". Each of these are embodied into a special pen, offered in the three models of fountain, rollerball and ballpoint pens. In keeping with the accoutrements of the era, the packaging itself has been inspired by the notebooks used by reporters during the First World War.

Each model in the four topics is a #limitededition of 100 examples per mode. All pens in the series are produced in celluloid with Sterling Silver trim. Embellishing the pocket clip, cap and barrel ends are symbols defined by the subject of the pen. The diamond-cut silver trims are personalised with Hemingway' s signature around the cap, his initials and the #montegrappa logo. In addition to the silver editions, 10 examples of each of the three pen types, in each of the four chapters, are trimmed with 18k Gold. All invoke the spirit of the writer who single-handedly transformed modern writing.

The Fisherman

Mediterranean Blue identifies the Fisherman, both for its maritime and geographical conno- tations. The barrel end bears the symbol of the leaping marlin, acknowledging both Hemingway' s love of the sea and of fishing, while recalling one of his greatest works,"The Old Man and the Sea". The marlin on an "H" was his personal logo, while the engravings recreate the drama of two of his indisputable passions, forever captured in the vast photographic archive of Hemingway on his boat, in the act of fishing and posing with his catch. His initials feature on the nib of the fountain pen, and a boat's wheel adorns the top of the pocket clip.
