Silver interiors, an on-board aquarium and a wealth of eco-friendly technology. This is the Charlotte Roadster, the princely supercar Made in Italy by FV-Frangivento

His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco will be the first to take his seat inside the Charlotte Roadster, the first Italian fully-electric hyper-car. A year from the birth of the #fvfrangivento brand, the second model the Charlotte Roadster is making her world debut at Top Marques Monaco at the Grimaldi Forum from 20 to 23 April 2017. A unique example of superb Italian craftsmanship teamed with the latest eco-friendly technology, made possible by the vision of the company’s two founders and designers Paolo Mancini and #giorgiopirolo. Veterans of the adventure 2500m up on the Tofana peak in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site with the Asfanè #supercar, the goal of these two founders armed with their amazing feeling for #design, is to raise awareness in the Italian and wider European market of the importance of the eco-friendly electric car when it is ever more vital to cut pollution. To achieve this they have created a team of representatives of Italian #excellence coming from Piedmont and Veneto. A team with input from the better known names of Pirelli, Brembo and Sparco.
“It is dedicated to the Côte D’Azur and to equestrian sport” explains #giorgiopirolo from Belluno, the sole creator of all aspects of the car’s #design. “My dream has come true, to have designed a car in its entirety, both the interior and exterior. After 15 years designing cars for overseas companies, my dream was to create an all-Italian #product with the new electric technology that is totally changing the rules of the architecture and overall #design of a car. Charlotte is the result of this.
With childlike wonder, I took my inspiration for this open-top version from the surreal, fairy-tale world of animals in motion. In the interior we encounter the swan and the shark and the elegance of the exterior recalls a horse galloping free. This instantly recalls Monte Carlo and the heritage of Monaco that safeguards this tradition. So how could I not think of the hair of the rider flowing free in the wind. I have immortalised this in all its physical glory and I’ve translated the flexibility of the muscles of the horse and of the rider as they come together on the animal’s flanks. This has created an iconic silhouette enveloped in a single line that runs from the rear wheel arch to the bonnet, the entire length of the car, as if reproducing the jump. All this translates into the sort of energy needed for leaping over obstacles towards a future with a whole new set ecological goals”.
The interior of the car takes its inspiration from the Mediterranean, with leather and surfaces that recreate the play of light and reflections off water. The occupants of the two seats will feel as if they are diving into the sea thanks to the two ‘waves’ that envelop the Sarco seats right up to the door panels. Designed to house the autonomous drive system, the cockpit resembles a modern loft, free from all encumbrances with space for the use of such top-of-the-range materials as Modena Interior panelling, luxury 3W Tout Bois veneer, exclusive leatherwork from Atelier Foglizzo 1921 and adorned with silver controls from jewellers Zampieri 1828 of Padua. Then the suspended part of the car, called the Island because it recalls the triangular shape of the Island of Sicily, contains a Moretto Veneziano (a Venetian jewel in the shape of a Moorish figure).
A cultural and social mix as an eulogy to that unique workmanship embodied by the made-in-Italy brand and a tribute to Italian know-how, #fvfrangivento is inspired by that concept of beauty expressed 100 years ago by that Italian icon Isotta Fraschini and now sadly forgotten.
“I’m extremely pleased with the work of my team” asserts co-founder Paolo Mancini who, like an orchestral conductor, has managed to complete the car in such a short time for the Monaco show. “We have been put severely to the test by Giorgio’s highly original and very varied demands, a complicated challenge against time and the constant quest for perfection. But it has presented us with the opportunity to exceed our limits and expand our construction technologies”.
“I would like to emphasise” Mancini continues “that in constructing the car we have used components in pure aluminium and materials originating from the aeronautical industry specially designed by us and produced by the Turin company RG-TECH of Bruino, while the coachwork elements have been hand-beaten by the Mancini Group. The whole thing brought together with carbon composites from the Venetian firm RSI C6. Charlotte Roadster is fitted with latest generation Pirelli PZERO Connesso smart tyres that interact with the driver”.
The aquarium behind the Sparco seats, also designed by #giorgiopirolo gives an unexpected sense of perspective, creating a sensation of deep relaxation. The fishes Nemo and Dory swim around the aquarium, the inspiration for another famous car by the same designer. At the bottom of the aquarium is a little bottle with the names of all those who took part in the project.
Unveiled alongside the car will be the #fvfrangivento electric recharge column and the eco- friendly driving shoes, made of recycled leather with a biodegradable H05 sole, also designed by #giorgiopirolo and developed by Pierfecht in Treviso.
