Maserati at Milano AutoClassica 2017

A6GCS-53, #3500gt, #bora and new #ghibligranlusso MY18

Modena, 24 November 2017 - The #milanoautoclassica weekend began today at the Rho Exhibition Centre, and #maserati is present in Hall 18, on a stand of 260 m2 that includes a selection of classic cars, a new #ghibligranlusso MY18, a Lounge zone and the #maserati Store for the sale of #maserati Official Merchandising.

Maserati Classiche has chosen three cars for display on its stand:

  • A6GCS-53. The #a6gcs53, directly evolved from the famous A6G.CS "monofaro", was also the basis for one of the most thrilling Coupés of the period. On the inspired suggestion of Guglielmo Dei, owner of the famous Scuderia Centro Sud, the Pininfarina coachworks built a compact Berlinetta, with distinctive outsize wheels and large, external exhaust pipes, still admired today for its aggressive look. The Pininfarina Berlinetta, presented on the coachworks' stand at the 1954 Turin Motor Show, represented the watershed between the worlds of racing and road-going cars. Only 4 cars of this model were built.
  • 3500 GT. The 3500 GT, launched in 1957, was Maserati's first "standard production" car and was presented at the Geneva International Motor Show in the version created by the Touring coachworks, which built an extremely elegant, refined classical coupé. Updated over the years with disc brakes, 5-speed transmission and indirect injection system, the model remained in production until 1964 and more than 1,400 were built during its seven-year lifetime. In 1959 the convertible version, designed by Vignale, joined the Coupé.
  • The #bora made its debut at the 1971 Geneva International Motor Show: a Coupé with a mid-mounted rear engine, it was intended to take over from the Ghibli as the top-performing car in the #maserati range. Designed by Giulio Alfieri and styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it was initially equipped with a 4.7 litre 90° V8 engine, which was joined two years later by the 4.9 litre engine producing 330 HP. In spite of its racing temperament, with excellent acceleration and high speed, the #bora delivered a very comfortable ride thanks to the amazing elasticity of its engine and very quiet interior.

On show alongside the three exclusive #maserati models is a new Ghibli GranLusso MY18, which reinterprets the concept of luxury in a sports sedan by underlining some exterior details and improving on-board comfort for both driver and passengers. This most elegant expression of the Ghibli uses exclusive materials and special features in the finest tradition of Italian craftsmanship. Externally, it is distinguished by its adaptive full LED headlights, chrome inserts on the front bumper, GranLusso badge at the base of the front wing, body-colour side skirts, black brake calipers and 19” Poseidone alloy wheels.

The Ermenegildo Zegna Silk interior features patented Mulberry silk inserts on the seats, door panels, roof lining and ceiling light fixture. The tailored seat details and the label on the sun visors, complemented by a Radica (Burr Walnut) open-pore wood trim and wood-finished leather steering wheel, make this version unique and exclusive, beautifully epitomising the superlative elegance of the GranLusso.

This uniquely luxurious trim includes Comfort seats with extensive 12-way power adjustment as standard, as well as power-adjustable steering wheel and foot pedals, parking sensors, an electrically lockable passenger glove box and new Soft Close Doors.

The new Ghibli MY18 is also available in the GranSport trim, inspired by Maserati's great racing tradition and designed to satisfy the demands of customers in search of a sportier personality in the high-end sedan segment.

The stand also incorporates the Maserati Store: with a blend of crafted details and contemporary design, quality materials and latest-generation fabrics, it offers for sale the key articles in the four merchandising lines: #maserati Corse, Contemporary, Officine Alfieri #maserati and Classiche. Four stylish collections, sporty and refined, for a look that is always contemporary and up-to-date.

The Maserati Classiche department, which has curated the Brand’s participation at the #event, is an in-house entity entirely dedicated to classic #maserati cars and the promotion of the company’s immense historic #heritage.
