Rüsselsheim/Berlin.  Extravagant location, special guests and an unusual car: Yesterday evening, the glittering vernissage took place for the 2017 #opel Calendar, “Georgia & Grumpy – Not impressed by Wonderland” – which recently received the silver “Gregor International Calendar Award”. More than 800 guests – including TV stars Nadja Uhl, Joachim Król, Christiane Paul, Ken Duken and Mina Tander together with more than 50 bloggers and digital influencers – celebrated with Grumpy Cat, #georgiamayjagger and photographer #ellenvonunwerth. #opel CEO, Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, and CMO, Tina Müller presented the new automobile star. They unveiled the new #opel #crosslandx.

Grumpy Cat‘s special wishes …

At first, Grumpy Cat refused to take part in the vernissage. The “Kraftwerk” might be an unusual location, but not stylish enough for an animal star like her. After all, with more than 8.7 million “likes” on Facebook, she is the most famous moggy in the world. She would only appear on one condition – the “Kraftwerk” must be turned into a cat-paradise.

“We were more than happy to meet Grumpy‘s demands” said CMO Tina Müller at the opening of the vernissage. “We are more than aware that whatever Grumpy touches turns out to be a success. The first edition of our new ‘Grumpy & Georgia’ calendar sold out within 48 hours of the presentation in November. Obviously, we moved heaven and kitty litter to have Grumpy as the star guest here in Berlin.”

So #opel created GRUMPY’S WONDERLAND – a real paradise for kitty with scratching trees, cat food and cat flaps – and all the guests were met on the red carpet by Grumpy herself.

Inside the „Kraftwerk“, the guests could then enjoy the calendar motifs. Great calendars have tradition at #opel: Rock singer Bryan Adams and the ADAM in 2014; designer Karl Lagerfeld and his cat, Choupette in 2015. Now in 2017 it is Grumpy and #georgiamayjagger, the daughter of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger and supermodel Jerry Hall. The interaction between the cat and the model was captured on camera by the internationally famous star photographer, Ellen von Umwerth.

Opel #crosslandx #premiere in urban-industrial setting

Apart from the cat and the calendar, the guests at the vernissage could enjoy another highlight – the premiere of the new #opel Crossland X. The #crosslandx combines SUV characteristics like rugged design and high seating positions with the highest efficiency typical of a #crossover. The #crosslandx launches the “7 in 17” #opel #product offensive. In the coming months a total of seven new #opel vehicles – including the #crosslandx – will celebrate their world #premiere, more than ever before in a single year.

Fans who want to see GRUMPY’S WONDERLAND for themselves are invited to visit the vernissage on Friday, February 3, and Saturday, February 4, as of 11.00 a.m. at the “Kraftwerk”, Köpenicker Strasse 70, Berlin. The fun continues on Friday evening with the KATZENJAMMER CATastrophic Talentshow, and on Saturday the WATCH LATER CLUB is inviting to the GRUMPY CATS FAIL COMPILATION, followed by HIP HOP DON’T STOP under the motto “BAD CATTITUDE”.
