Crème de la Crème
“We’re delighted we can again present our audience at the 40th #porsche #tennis Grand Prix with a top world class field,” said Tournament Director Markus Günthardt. In addition to the #tennis highlights in the Porsche-Arena, also awaiting the spectators and players is an international show where we will take a look back at the past 40 years and celebrate our anniversary in keeping with the occasion.”
One of the many renowned anniversary guests in the #porsche Arena will be Tracy Austin. A 15-year old teenager at the time, the American with pony tails and dental braces became the crowd favourite at the first #porsche #tennis Grand Prix in Filderstadt in 1978 – and the much-celebrated first winner. Up until 1981, she notched up four wins in a row at the tournament to which even then her fellow players always loved to return year after year. The WTA Tour players also voted the #porsche #tennis Grand Prix as their favourite tournament worldwide in its category in 2016 – for the eighth time since 2007.
