Kjus, Hublot and Zermatt welcome the winter season

Press release available only in Italian

Hublot and KJUS are proud to launch the KJUS Hublot Jacket, the result of dedicated development and a collaboration that began 3 years ago. Inspired by the iconic Hublot Big Bang UNICO Carbon watch, this ski jacket is premium in all respects and features innovative details like the first carbon zipper puller ever created. The launch event was held on the opening day of the Zermatt Unplugged Festival in Zurich also marking the start of the ski season in the award-winning and world famous region of Zermatt. With strong existing ties to the Zermatt resort, Hublot is already partner of the Tourism Office, recently opened a Chalet Boutique at the foot of the Matterhorn, and today is proud to be also a partner of the Zermatt Unplugged festival. Zermatt is also one of the few spots worldwide, where you can purchase one of the 200 limited KJUS Hublot Jackets. It is a region that combines tradition and the modern world in the best possible way. Like Hublot and KJUS, Zermatt strives for perfection. That’s why the area presents some more highlights and upgrades this season, like the makeover and expansion of the legendary Hörnli ski lift. The Jacket From the first carbon zipper puller ever created to the exclusive sleeve watch window and refined checkered pattern details resembling of carbon, the jacket’s design interacts with the Big Bang UNICO in many ways. Uniquely shaped down chambers reflect the Big Bang UNICO’s style. ―This jacket is groundbreaking in many respects: It is full of innovation, best workmanship and also comes in an unseen, very sophisticated look‖, says Didi Serena, CEO and Founder of KJUS. We also equipped the jacket with a carbon membrane (based on Dermizax® EV by Toray) allowing for up to 10% more heat retention. For the insulation, we chose PrimaLoft® Silver Down, a combination of water-repellent duck down and ultrafine PrimaLoft® microfiber keeping up to 94% of its thermal capacity in humid conditions and drying four times faster than conventional downs. The lining contains material that has even been tested in space: schoeller®-PCM™ (phase change material): Microscopically tiny elements of wax within the fabric trap excess heat. When the temperature drops, the stored heat is released back to the body. This Special Edition is limited to 200 pieces worldwide. Each comes with an engraved plaque to underline its exclusivity. ―Classy and contemporary at the same time – just like our two companies, Hublot and KJUS, this jacket is truly one of a kind‖, Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, concludes. The Watch
To mark its climb to the foot of the Matterhorn, Hublot has created two numbered Big Bang Zermatt models. In a tungsten or satin finished red gold case, with a ceramic bezel, a grey satin finished sun dial displays a counter at 9 o'clock engraved with the emblematic silhouette of the Matterhorn. Held on a brown calfskin strap with beige stitching, the Big Bang Zermatt is available in a limited edition of 150. The base opens to reveal a mechanical chronograph automatic winding HUB4100 movement. A piece of 3 cm rope takes pride of place above the movement between two sapphire panes, as if sealed for eternity. The Zermatt region is home to many tales and legends. One legend says that the original rope was found at an altitude of 4,320 metres on the North-East crest of the Matterhorn. It is said that ropes have a soul—due to the inside of the rope that is made up of many nylon threads meshed together—and there is no doubt that the soul of the Matterhorn shines at the heart of the Big Bang.
