A new Lema flagship store in the heart of the Spanish capital Opening of the Lema Madrid flagship store on the 25th October. The guest of honour will be Madrid-born designer David Lopez Quincoces

Two years after the opening of the flagship store in Denia, #lema launches a new mono-brand store in #madrid, Spain, in collaboration with retailer Banni Elegant Home.

Located in the prestigious Salamanca district, which is home to some of the leading fashion and luxury brands, the 150 sqm plus space presents a vast selection of designs from the company’s catalogue, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the Lema home. With its wide array of modular systems – Lema’s core business since its establishment – right the way through to the more recent freestanding pieces, the space stands out for its sunny, Mediterranean atmosphere, where #hospitality and conviviality, relaxation and warmth are the distinctive traits of Casa #lema.

The guest of honour of the opening night, on Thursday, 25th of October, will be the Madrid-born designer #davidlopezquincoces, who will be talking about his project for the new ALTON armchair project and his important collaboration with #lema.

With its sculptural aesthetic, the Alton features an anthracite-coloured, painted metal structure, offset by the semi-circular shape and slender leather back with sartorial, hand-wound leather accents in natural, antique-finish leather. The essential lines of the exterior fuse with the inviting seat, which can be upholstered in fabric or leather, creating a refined stylistic contrast, while the soft cushion ensures maximum comfort. Exhibited in #madrid in a new version characterized by the combination with the natural antique-finish leather and the refined pied de poule Galatea decorative fabric.

Each ambience elegantly interprets the concept of the Lema home: a refuge for the soul; a space designed like a tailored garment, completely free of restrictions, inspired by an unpretentious lifestyle far from the fray of modern-day life, all under the insignia of maximum emotional comfort.

A new space that shows off the company’s manufacturing ability at its very best, a quality that has enabled #lema to unite the values and technological efficiency of a large industrial reality with profound roots in artisanal workmanship. Each space embodies the distinct traits of the company’s DNA, which has always been dedicated to the production of custom-made modular systems, like the day zone designs Selecta and T030.

Bookcase par #excellenceSELECTA by Officinadesign Lema was the first product to combine the attention to detail of manual woodworking with technical innovation, providing maximum versatility in terms of compositions, uses and finishes, transforming it into a truly bespoke product that takes full advantage of cutting-edge mechanisation processes. Rather than a restriction, utility rooms and hallways, double-height rooms, attics and spaces under staircases now represent opportunities. And, thanks to the numerous technologies and solutions, Selecta also becomes the ideal choice for designing TV cabinets and multi-functional wall units. In fact, doors and containers can be added to the open shelving system, making Selecta compositional possibilities virtually endless.

The T030 by Piero Lissoni is another perfect example of #lema modularity: a series of modules in different sizes and colours with covered and open sections that can be assembled in classic contemporary, linear, and asymmetrical compositions. In fact, T030 means the possibility to decorate according to your own creativity and the specific needs of each home and individual environment. On request of the client, the containers can be equipped with hinged or flap doors or drawers. The wall-mounted panels also come with a hollow interior, allowing easy installation of TV cables and multimedia devices. Another variant of T030, is Box, a series of fixed, floor-mounted or suspended compositions, constructed using the system’s modules, which all have the finishes, originality and elegance of a limited edition series. Easy to install, each project is specifically studied to facilitate the #design and logistic stage, which also helps to reduce costs, making for an extremely elegant and versatile range of wall units and containers with a high visual impact.

Set-up

The hallway area showcases a large, made-to-measure SELECTA bookcase by Officinadesign Lema in Carbon oak with glossy lacquered Granata doors, and a new version of GLANCE with an anodised bronze and transparent, extra-clear, glass structure. A project with an intense character, created in collaboration with Matteo Nunziati, which echoes the style of the display cases he designed in 2016 and 2017. In front of this, there’s the LADY JANE easy chair and pouf by Christophe Pillet, with its retro, 1950s-style lines. Then there’s the two SIGN tables by Studio Kairos with a metal structure and table tops in Carbon Oak and glossy lacquered Bordeaux, respectively.

The space is further enhanced by the WINSTON bar, designed by Christophe Pillet, an exclusive piece inspired by traditional Chinese furniture: discreet and mysterious on the outside, but full of surprises, details and qualities on the inside. Designed for holding bottles and glasses, this modern box of wonders opens out to reveal a multitude of precious details, like the mirrored lower shelf and leather and metal inserts. Uber-accessorised, the internal compartments come complete with bottle holders, drawers and extractable compartments. Above, the flap door there is also another space with an extractable shelf, that can be used as a support to prepare cocktails. The suspended metal base has been finished in bronze varnish, while the panels and doors have been finished in Canaletto walnut.

The display leads on to an elegant dining area, featuring the SHADE table by Francesco Rota and the TABBY chairs by Gordon Guillaumier. With its generous dimensions (350 cm long), this elegant dining table is offset by the harmonious contrast between the slender table top and the sculptural pedestal composed of delicate sheets of treated metal, arranged in an asymmetrical cross that create a fascinating interplay of light and shadow, the inspiration behind the name. The table top is available in a wide range of materials and finishes, completing the beauty of this important piece of furniture. Classic yet modern at the same time, thanks to the refined lines of the wood structure, Tabby opens out like the petals of a flower, providing the maximum in relaxation and comfort, gracefully enhancing every space. The seat and backrest can be upholstered in fabric, leather and eco-leather.

On the back wall there are two GLANCE display cases by Matteo Nunziati, an elegant combination of sturdy, heat-treated oak and the lightness of crystal, delicately framed by a bronze-varnished, metal frame.

The heart of the flagship store features a living area, furnished with a large, YARD corner sofa by Francesco Rota and the new ALTON armchairs by David Lopez Quincoces.

A reinterpretation of typical industrial #design from the 60s, Yard was specifically created as a complement to the modular systems that are an intrinsic part of Lema’s DNA. The metal structure, upholstered in fabric, is held up by a series of feet that are joined by triangular hooks, providing a support for cushions and armrests, without completely hiding the lines of the sofa, creating a harmonious contrast that becomes a fundamental aesthetic feature of the piece The very same surface also acts as support for shelves and containers. The collection is completed by the elegant Court Yard daybed with a heat-treated oak top and bronze-varnished structure and feet.

The display is completed by the coffee tables MR.ZHENG by Roberto Lazzeroni, with a metal structure and matt lacquered Avio top, and OYDO by Francesco Rota, with a bronze-tone metal structure and table tops proposed in glossy lacquered Aneto and Stone Grey finish.

In terms of storage systems, the living room proposal features a suspended T030 composition by Piero Lissoni, with open units in Caron oak and matt lacquered Fumo containers and surfaces in a Cement Grey finish.

Just like a real home, the showcase continues into the night zone, furnished with VICTORIANO by Roberto Lazzeroni, an upholstered bed with a solid wood structure, inspired by stylistic elements of the past updated with a contemporary #design. The piece is distinguished by its high headboard with slightly curved sides to accommodate the mattress, embellished by the stitch detailing in the centre. The soft, continuous line flows into the bed frame, resulting in a truly elegant, #design that will grace every home with a touch of classical grace and modernity.

The VIC, again by Lazzeroni and SILO bedside tables by Studio Kairos, together with the footstools by Officinadesign Lema, complete the space.

Meanwhile, directly in front of the bed is an elegant home office featuring the NOVELIST desk by Christophe Pillet, coordinated with the HATI chair by Piero Lissoni and the iconic BOOKEN bookcase by Raw Edges.

The essence of Novelist, lies in its name, which evokes the creativity of the past, whereas the materials and aesthetic add a modern upgrade to the design’s functionality, affirming its identity as an elegant piece of furniture that becomes the key feature of the space. The base consists of two crossed legs in shiny, chrome-plated metal, which support a precious top in Canaletto walnut. The slender frame contains two side drawers and a pencil-holder. The retro flavour of the piece is further enhanced by the leather covering.

Designed by Piero Lissoni, Hati, one of the brand’s best-selling designs, is a chair with an essential yet warm profile that easily adapts to every space, thanks to the numerous variations and finishes. Available in the chair or armchair version, the piece comes with an upholstered, leather, eco-leather or twine seat and backrest, or can be completely made in wood. The retro-style contours have been upgraded to highlight the structure and enhance the proportions.

The eclectic British Raw Edges duo interprets Lema’s intrinsic concept of bookcase in a unique and unusual key. In fact, Yael and Shay have worked on the concept of the book as an object which, by transforming its function, reinvents itself, becoming a material and the guiding inspiration behind the piece, which transforms into a bedside table, shelf and library all at the same time.

The MIRAGE mirror, designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, is composed of many reflecting surfaces that can be assembled at different angles, thanks to a special wall-mounting g system. When placed side-by-side, they add a pleasant movement to the walls, increasing the sense of space and depth of any room. An innovative, playful and ironic take on traditional furnishing, where each module is finished with a grinding that recalls classic mirror processing techniques, uniting tradition with modernity.

Focus has been given to made-to-measure modular systems for the night area.

The first display features the DANDY made to measure wardrobe by Officinadesign Lema and the HANGAR walk-in closet by Piero Lissoni.

Featuring a Sand metal profile, Dandy is defined by the unusual #design of the doors which are available in transparent glass (as seen in Madrid), reflecting bronze glass, lacquered glass in 10 colour options, bronze grass with fabric-effect serigraphy and decorative fabric coverings.

The Hangar walk-in closet aims at creating a personal space, that is both pleasing to the eye and comfortable, shifting the focus from its function as a mere container to wellness. Designed to store everyday objects, Hangar rationalises the space while being versatile enough to satisfy a wide variety of layout ideas and requirements. Every object is neatly stowed yet free at the same time: an intelligent, functional system created for the needs of the inhabitant. A #design that charms with the warmth of the wood and lightness of the glass and its reflections. A tailor-made solution that appeals for its endless #design possibilities, where the various elements and accessories are fitted along elegant floor/ceiling mounted metal profiles that support the weight of the accessories, while also adding decisive style accents to the piece.

Another corner presents the NAICAmade to measure wardrobe by Cairoli & Donzelli with doors in matt lacquered Sabbia. The special groove work on the entire height of the door acts as a handle, which also opens the adjacent door with a smooth finish. The grooves thus form a continuous and harmonious movement along the entire wall. Available in the hinged or sliding door version, the height, length and width of the pieces can easily be adapted to suit each space and also comes as a corner solution.

After being the first company to launch a tailor-made system like the Armadio al Centimetro, in the 80s, #lema is now completely revolutionising the concept of the wardrobe with the Lema Air Cleaning System, an innovative, patented device which, for the first time ever, sees the wardrobe play an active role in the sanitisation of clothing and footwear.

We spend a great deal of our busy daily lives outside of the home, in places like offices, public transport, shopping centres, restaurants, hotels and gyms, where the air quality is often poor due to inadequate recycling: bacteria, allergens, mould, carbon monoxide and particulate dust can permeate our clothing, causing unpleasant odours. Mindful of the intensive contemporary lifestyle, #lema directs ever-greater attention to its clients, focusing on improving their well-being.

The result of years of extensive research, the world-exclusive #lema Air Cleaning System uses nanotechnology and a special UV lamp to generate a photochemical reaction that naturally destroys pollutants, bacteria and mould, purifying the inside of the wardrobe and eliminating more than 90% of bad odours from clothing and footwear.

Without affecting the aesthetics, the system (available as an optional extra) is installed on top of the Armadio al Centimetro wardrobes that come with hinged, sliding and coplanar doors.

The innovative system relies on patented Photocatalytic Oxidation technology, a technique used to purify aerospace environments, where one of the main issues is precisely the quality and cleanliness of the air. A system that is also widely used in hospitals and the medical and food sectors.

The last two spaces in the store are home to the meeting areas, furnished with the MEMO and LUCE tables, two very different yet understatedly minimal proposals, that fully embody the characteristic traits of Piero Lissoni’s rigorous style. Designed for large dining areas or elegant meeting rooms, Memo is available in two different sizes (300x110 and 400 x 110 cm). This unostentatious #design appeals for the balance and symmetry of the elements: the table top in heat-treated oak or Lava stone and the metal structure. In fact. the aesthetic research is focused on the materials and their expressive ability that completely renounces any form of artifice.

Coordinated with the Bai Lu di Neri&Hu chairs, in the #madrid store, the #design is proposed in the Lava stone version with a red metal structure.

Starting from the classic #design of the table, Lissoni worked on exaggerating the features by means of subtraction: the top in Canaletto Walnut (also available in the lacquered matt and Clay versions) and the bronze-finish metal structure are further enhanced by the extreme lightness of the #design, given by the essential volumes and thicknesses of the materials. A square-shaped table, available in a variety of sizes, with a modern, almost technological imprint, specifically designed to furnish both refined home interiors and contract spaces. In this display, the piece is proposed with the Hati chairs.

The last space features the TEXT made to measure wardrobe by Officinadesign LEMA, with sliding doors in glossy lacquered Nocciola. With its elegant, vertical profile, this extremely versatile piece is perfect for custom-designed homes. Also available with hinged doors, customisable in height, width and depth, and available as a corner solution, the handle is also available in the bronze-tone or lacquered version to match the colour of the doors. A vast range of internal accessories and options allow the wardrobe to be tailored to suit every need.
