Opus by #casalgrandepadana: cementine tiles with a soul that goes back a long way
Widely used during the industrial revolution, the ‘cementine’ tiles owe their name to the material they were made from, Portland cement, which was used by numerous craftsmen of the period to prepare concrete. Thanks to their technical and aesthetic qualities, they became the signature flooring of the early 20th century, especially in big cities.
Decorative patterns and elegant geometric motifs are the hallmark features of Opus by Casalgrande Padana: porcelain stoneware tiles characterised by subtle colour effects and neutral, versatile, modern shades that are perfect for tiling floors in any setting, also offering a splendid alternative to carpets, as well as for walls or worktops, creating original decorations coordinated with flooring.
Venetian flooring: Macro and Terrazzo
Composed of fragments of marble, stones and pebbles, Venetian flooring (also known as terrazzo, mosaic or marble-grit flooring) is one of the oldest types of flooring used in architecture, dating back to the Roman school of mosaics. Sophisticated and versatile, it is able to bring prestige to any setting, which explains the return to this flooring we are witnessing today.
Macro and Terrazzo are the two new porcelain stoneware collections by #casalgrandepadana that bring a contemporary edge to grit, in which random repetitions and continuous surfaces become an element of decoration that creates the effect of a natural carpet.
Nine different textures with a natural, polished or lapped finish are available in different sizes (from the classic 30x60 cm, up to the large sizes 59x118 cm, 75.5x75.5 cm, 118x118 cm and 118x236 cm): fragments of differing dimensions and contrasting tones make up a bright, dynamic puzzle, perfect for elegant, contemporary living spaces.
Two collections that make it possible to overcome the limits of the individual tile by creating an uninterrupted image throughout every room, in which the irregular, random elements form an orderly pattern reminiscent of a natural carpet spread from the floor to the walls.
Extremely flexible from an aesthetic point of view, Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware is a suitable covering for all types of floors, walls, worktops and tables, and is also ideal for rooms with underfloor heating.
In addition to the classic laying on screed with glue, #casalgrandepadana offers an innovative dry interlocking laying system, designed mainly for residential renovation projects, where it guarantees numerous benefits, including the simplification of laying operations, thanks to the possibility to install the ceramic tiles on top of existing flooring, thus eliminating removal and disposal costs; the limited alterations required to doors and to door and window frames, and the possibility to easily remove and replace both individual tiles and the whole floor at any time.
