FSD, Ferretti Group's Business Unit dedicated to the Defence and Security sector, returns to Seafuture in #laspezia to present the patrol boat FSD N800, an innovative vessel suitable for public safety, rescue and patrol operations, powered by a "zero emissions" propulsion system.
La Spezia, 28 September 2021 - FSD Ferretti Security Division, the Ferretti Group's Defense and Security Division, returns in style to
Seafuture, one of the most important Italian exhibitions dedicated to the maritime security and defense sector, scheduled from September
28th to October 1st at the #laspezia Military Arsenal.
For SEAFUTURE 2021, FSD selected the hybrid powered FSD N800 vessel to demonstrate its commitment to the principles of sustainability
that much of the shipping industry is espousing with the support of the Client.
"We believe that research on high-performance materials, design and new hybrid propulsion systems are at the heart of the Blue Economy
and that FSD's technological contribution can contribute positively to the progression of the entire sector. With this spirit, we are happy to be able to expose to the attention of a competent and international public a vessel of high technological avant-garde which, in line with the Ferretti Group's strategy, offers to the most demanding users nautical performance associated with attention to the environment", commented Giuliano Felten, Director of FSD - Ferretti Security Division.
The new FSD N800 units are 16.75 metres long and 4.43 metres wide, with a draught of 1.57 metres, and are built with a hull in composite
material, from glass-carbon fibre. Their peculiarity is the efficiency of the hybrid propulsion; they are in fact equipped with a new concept
Transfluid diesel/electric hybrid engine that allows a "zero emissions" navigation. The combination of technological innovation and design
capacity ensures a significant reduction in consumption and environmental impact to protect the marine ecosystem and, at the same time, a level of performance in terms of speed and manoeuvrability appropriate to the assigned mission.
SEAFUTURE 2021 confirms to be an event of strategic importance and maximum international relevance for organizations and companies
operating in the defense sector. 200 exhibitors from all over the world and more than 50 foreign delegations, representing as many military
navies, will make the event the ideal stage for the presentation of the novelties in the field of innovation and naval technology, both in the
Defense and Civil Nautical sectors.
FSD, which was set up in 2016 to design, produce and sell naval platforms for security and patrol activities at sea, not only signed several major contracts in 2019, but also entered into numerous international partnerships. Since then, it has reported strong growth, benefiting Ferretti Group by adding a non-cyclical market that complements its traditional business operations. The production capacity provided by six Ferretti Group shipyards in Italy, supported by a close-knit worldwide assistance network, can handle any production volume required, as well as offering a certified, highly professional and easily available warranty and after-sales service. In a period when coastal and
maritime security has become a primary national need, civilian and public maritime operators can rely on the competitiveness of Ferretti Security Division to provide effective security at sea.
