ICONA “SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES ARE THE FUTURE OF ROAD TRANSPORTATION”

Turin, 28 March 2018 – Following its successful debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Italian #design firm #icona will take the Nucleus to the #beijing Motor Show, to be held at the end of April in the Chinese capital. With the Nucleus, #icona has affirmed its vision for self-driving cars. “The self-driving car is the future of automobile transportation,” remarked Teresio Gigi Gaudio, President and CEO of #icona. “Stopping the tests would be like stopping the clock to overcome the passing of time. The experimentation must be carried out in conditions of maximum safety, but making alarmist pronouncements for a reversal of course is not how progress is made. The safest means of transport today is the airplane, not incidentally the one where autonomous driving is the most widespread. At the dawn of the automobile age, it was precisely the lack of clear rules that caused too many accidents, and even today, with more highly evolved traffic regulations, people are killed on the roads by accidents largely caused by human error. Rather than point the finger at artificial intelligence, we need to accelerate the establishment of new rules and infrastructures that enable the efficient and responsible development of a new mobility, which from the technological standpoint is already a reality, according to a vision that #icona has recently presented with the Nucleus.” #icona Founded in 2010, #icona has its roots in the city of Turin, Italy, where know-how and many globally recognized automotive-related facilities are concentrated, including #design studios, manufacturers, universities and research centers. The professional experience of Icona’s founders ensures a solid base for the development projects carried out for its clients, with know-how that covers the entire process, from management to styling, and from engineering to prototyping and production. The #icona Group works with more than 120 designers, modelers, engineers, and project managers from 21 different countries, with offices in Shanghai and Los Angeles in addition to the Turin headquarters.
