Design, craftmanship, new materials and colour studies

From the 15th of February to the 31st of March, #gandiablasco, GAN and DIABLA will be in #Madrid to unveil their latest proposals and join in on the reflection on the transformative capacity of #design.

ONDE by #lucanichetto, hybrid collection which merge indoor and outdoor spaces, reflects the relevance that outdoor spaces have acquired as safe haven places of calm, well-being and disconnection throughout the year. The showcase will include designs from the new GB MODULAR line, by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales and his DNA outdoor furniture collection, but also pieces from the ISLA collection by Sebastian Herkner.

Craftmanship

GAN will exclusively present the PLASTIC RIVERS collection. The designer #alvarocatalandeocon and GAN will unveil to the public the INDUS and NIGER. In addition to these two new models, GANGES, Ro PLASTIC PRIZE 2021 all handmade carpets made from plastic fibres. GAN will also present the latest additions to its catalogue, including creations such as ROOTS, by #inmabermudez, ECHO, by Samuel Wilkinson and PURE, by Made Studio.

New materials

BALCONI, which will become part of Diabla's catalogue, is a creation of Oiko #design, a #design and industrial development studio specialising in the science and engineering of materials in order to transition to a circular economy. It is based on a calm, honest, and recognizable formal solution that embraces a new material such as recycled plastic from soap and detergent containers from the yellow bin. It is a material that both in its aesthetics and in its perfumed smell speaks of its origin, of its previous life, and of how it is reincarnated in the form of a resistant and comfortable ribbon.

"From dawn to dusk: a study on the intangible condition of colour and its materiality 2015-2022"

Is the title of the artistic installation that #alejandragandiablasco – a member of the third generation of the family company, trained in Fine Arts and simultaneously designer and creative director in the Gandia Blasco group – has devised for this occasion.

"In this sense, the study of colour that Alejandra is carrying out with this project has led her, in turn, to investigate how to transfer it to other media, converting the intangibility of colour, as an illusory product of light and its decomposition, into both works of art and tangible designs. In this way, she has fragmented the different areas of colour and gradients of two of her captures with the aim of turning them into rugs, meticulously mapping each tone and its surface and identifying it with a chromatone (the colour system used in wool)". #tachymora, cultural journalist with expertise in #design.

Within the framework of the #Madrid DesignPRO professional meetings – on 17th, 18th and 19th February – the Gandia Blasco Group's space in the Spanish capital will be visited by different groups of opinion leaders and professionals from the industry participating in networking and collaborative activities around the capacity of this discipline to transform and improve society.
